Saturday Barista

We are looking for a part time experienced Barista to make speciality coffees, hot chocolates and teas. The role also includes taking orders, serving customers and using the tills in our busy cafe.

If you also have experience in working as a kitchen assistant/ commis chef that would give you more hours And extra shifts!

We require somebody every and Saturday 11-5 and possibly some other days to cover holidays etc

Drinks and snacks are included

Start date 15th September, with some practice shifts before that too

Commis Chef

We are looking for an commis chef with flair and creativity to join our friendly team. You should take pride in producing great quality food, freshly cooked from scratch with a Scottish twist.

You should be enthusiastic and keen to learn, with good communication skills . Experience is great but you will be well trained

Duties include salad and veg prep as well as making sandwiches and taking food out to customers

You Should have experience in a high volume kitchen and be able to work well within a team

This role includes daily preparation and presentation of food, ensuring that the kitchen is kept clean in accordance with HCPP and cooksafe regulations

The position is 34/35 hours a week. in the kitchen Saturday, Sunday, Monday from 8.30am to 4.30/5pm , Thursday and Friday taking food out 12-5pm

We offer a competitive rate of pay depending on skills and experience

You will be paid weekly and have a share of the tips as well as having free drinks and snacks during the day

There is free parking and Christmas , Boxing Day and new years day off!

Start date 1st september with a trial shift beforehand

Christophe's vegan puy lentil stew recipe


Christophe's puy lentil stew with roasted golden beetroot and sweet potato mash (Vegan)



(Serves 2)

1 x large sweet potato 

2 x medium golden beetroot 

1 x cup of puy lentil 

Small diced:

2 x carrots

2 x branches of celery 

1 x white onion

1 x clove of garlic

1 x leek


Boil the puy lentils in vegetable stock until soft, and then cool under a cold tap.

Peel, quarter and roast the golden beetroot until just soft.

Wrap the sweet potato in cling film, with the skin on. Microwave until soft. Then, peel and mash. Add salt and pepper.

In a frying pan gently fry all of the vegetables for 10 minutes. Add the lentils.

Add seasoning to taste. 

To serve, place the sweet potato mash on a plate topped with the puy lentils and 4 pieces of roasted golden beetroot.

Our cullen skink recipe

Homemade Cullen skink is one of our most popular soups in the cafe. It's available every day on our menu and is served with one of our freshly made cheese scones. If you fancy making it at home, here's a peek at our chef's recipe...  

  • 400g of diced potatoes
  • 400g of washed sliced leeks
  • 1/2kg of smoked haddock
  • 1/2 litre of milk
  • 1 litre of light chicken stock 
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Gently fry the leeks and potatoes in a pan
  2. Add the stock and milk
  3. Bring to the boil and then simmer until the potatoes are nearly cooked, then add the smoked haddock
  4. Bring to the boil then take off the heat
  5. Serve with a scone and real butter. Enjoy! : )
