Autumn - Nature's Time to Plant!

Autumn is the perfect time to plant shrubs, perennials and trees as the earth is still warm, helping plants to become established before the winter, and get away quickly in the spring.

We've got a fantastic range of trees available at the garden centre, and have the best selection of bedding plants in Scotland. We have lots of beautiful ready planted containers and baskets, and a superb selection of bulbs to plant now to bring colour to your garden in the spring.

Perennials looking great just now and currently in stock are: the Asters (4 for £12), Rudbeckias (2 for £10), Coreopsis (4 for £12), Penstemon (4 for £12) and Heuchera's (2 for £10).
Offers on Home Grown bedding plants currently include: mini cyclamen in a 10cm pot for outdoor containers, £2.49 or 3 for £6, pansy and violas packs of 6 for £3.49, or 4 for £12. Scented dianthus in a 10cm pot £2.49, or 3 for £6. We also have gorgeous indoor cyclamen in a 13cm pot in lots of unusual colours for £3.99
Trees available this Autumn range from ornamentals, including: the wonderful Quercus Pal Green, a great columnar small oak (really popular with garden designers!), and Sorbus Autumn Spire (Flanrock) - a super rowan, with masses of spring flowers and wonderful autumn colour!
For smaller gardens, we have selected specific tree types that are best suited to small spaces.
We currently have a great range of fruit trees, from apple through to cherry. Cherry Summer Sun is a reliable variety suitable for North of the border providing plenty of sweet fruit! Also in stock just now, we have smaller root stocks and patio trees. For larger fruit we have included the mighty medlar, quince and walnut – perfect for a larger space and forest gardening.
We have a great range of shrubs - both evergreen and deciduous to fill any space, and of course the beautiful rose. Choose and pop one in for fantastic colour and fragrance for now and in years to come. Our current favourite is Lady Emma Hamilton - it has a strong fragrance and amazing autumn colour.
The deciduous shrubs are displaying their wonderful autumn colour, from the majestic hamamelis (witch hazel) to the little Sorbaria sem. Others ready to spring into action are fothergilla and euonymus alatus.
Hedging and soft fruit will arrive at the end of October, so watch this space...!
